Hi, first time posting on here. Just need some help.

I have recently upgraded to the Warpspeed 100G plan through Vodafone. It came with the standard Netcomm Gigabit Wireless Router NP805N.

The problem is with my download speed. When i connect my laptop directly to the modem my download speed goes up to 100mbps where it should be, but when i connect my laptop through the router it will only go up to 20-25mbps.

Does anyone else have this problem? and fixed it..

Or do i simply need to upgrade my router? If so any recommendations?

How are you connecting the laptop to the router?
(If via wifi, then abouts that i'd expect)

I assume you're connecting via WiFi to do this testing? If so there isn't an issue here.

If you are using WiFi you'll find an Ethernet cable will deliver better speeds.

WiFi is not and never will be a replacement for cabled Ethernet.

Yup, connect a cable from laptop to the router, and another cable from router to "modem".

Are you saying vodafone "warpspeed" is one of the fibre plans? In which case its not a modem but an "ONT" and has a few other factors we have to consider.

To start with, is the cable to the ONT good without any kinks or whatever? The ONT has Gigabit ports so will be more sensitive to cable problems if the router also does a Gigabit uplink. Cat5e is ok for Gigabit but change to a Cat6 cable if it looks dodgy or you're not sure. If using some permanent in-wall outlet for the uplink, you could move the router next to the ONT for a test, and plug laptop directly into router from there.

Time to find a new industry!

Hi we we webwat, the warp speed product is an HFC one not gpon, no ONT involved. I have noted similar issues when connecting to $5k firewalls that can pass 3GB/s between wan and LAN and have no issues with Chorus UFB connections. I will be back on site with an effected site in a couple of weeks and want to invest some time to sort.
