Australian ISP Iinet.com.au also use the same router. They call it a Bob Lite.

/edit btw I am referring to the black genius router - not the newer white one.

Orcon Genius

What one?

There isn't just a single Genius model, and they're made by different manufacturers.

We currently ship 2 models.  One is glossy black, and is a custom router from iiNet called "Genius" (similar to but not identical to "BoB").  This used to have an optional DECT chip/handset but we no longer provide it.

The other is white and it's a Netcomm NF4V.  We usually refer to this internally as "Genius White"

The question is ... why?

Why!

I am trying to get a chromecast dongle to work with my Orcon "glossy black" modem.

I can't see anything in the menus that I can access that can be altered to get it working.

Of course Orcon won't help as it is a third party device, although they do say it will work in their UFB blog. Most frustrating for a newbie.

Thanks for your help.

It should work just like any other device... what problem are you having?  Have you followed the instructions here?
