I have two desktop computers. One is linked to the wireless router by um, wireless means. The other is linked by a cable. Both can access the Internet fine. My problem is, I want the computers to speak to each other, but I can't seem to make this happen. Both computers used to be connected to my broadband modem and I had a nice little home LAN going, but since I've made one of the computers wireless (necessitated by furniture arrangements), I've lost my home network and can't get it back again. Any ideas? Is it possible to have a home LAN when one computer is joined by wireless and the other by cable to the router?

Yes its totally possible.

When you set up wireless, did you go into the settings for the WiFi card and enable file sharing and all that jazz?

Some routers may put the LAN devices and Wireless devices on different IP address ranges.  Can you check their IP addresses?

Start Run CMD

IPCONFIG

and grab the addresses at each machine.  Generally speaking, if the first 3 numbers are the same then same subnet and they should be able to talk.
