Hey guys,

I'm shopping around for a new VDSL modem/router to replace the Slingshot issued one. Getting a few issues with the WiFi dropping out. At the moment I'm looking at the TP-Link TD-W9980 for around $180. Any other alternatives that are just as good, if not better?

I've just gone with the W9980 to replace a Technicolor 589vn v2...  after having it originally replaced with a Huawei 530b.

I was after:
1. Easy port forwarding - Big tick there
2. Ability to use OpenDNS servers - Looks like I can, but haven't been successful in setting it up. Has the option to set the DNS to use, but doesn't keep the connection. (More work for me there).
3. DDNS - Very limited options (only 2 in the out of the box config I have - I've not looked for firmware updates yet) I've got a Linux work around, but I'm not sure that's working.
4. User Friendly tags for attached devices - Does if its a Windows device or if you root access to the machine (such as Linux) - just not with un-rooted android tablets and phones. (Nothing a list of IP's and devices won't solve)
5. Wifi - Has 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz setting, easy to get going. Another tick in the box for me.

The web admin page is feature rich, and I've got no complaints so far.
