i have this router with Slingshot fibre and want to increase wifi but in the settings i cant change it to 5ghz,i only have a choice of 2.4ghz,is there a way to change this,

No. It doesn't do 5GHz.

Please define "increase WiFi"

wifi to tablets keep dropping off,was trying to get reliable connection,in the specs it says you could choose 2.4 or 5 ghz

in the basic settings i have a choice of adsl or vdsl,i am on fibre so does this setting matter,it is currently set to adsl.

How could it matter when it doesn't relate to wifi.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Without knowing what your problem is it's impossible to help you.

This router doesn't do 5GHz.

If your WiFi coverage is poor you need to look at installing additional access point(s) in your home. Expecting a single router to cover an entire average size house is not a real world reality.

im within 3 metres of the router,straight line of sight,Slingshot had no ideas either.

it should not as your incoming internet connection is from the ONT (the bit that converts the fibre to Ethernet) and plugs in to the WAN port on the NF4V

my home computer is wired to router with very fast stable speeds but on my surface rt tablet and my wifes ipad mini we keep losing the wifi,it connects again after 5 or 10 minutes or if i restart router which i try not to do too often,thought it may have something to do with router settings.

So when it drops can you see the network if you scan for it?

What basic WiFi fault finding/checking have you done? I'm assuming none? The first is to change WiFi channels. It might also may to read my rather extensive blog post on WiFi issues for some ideas, as I'm assuming you haven't done this already.

yep,can see network when it drops off,on my Rt i either disconnect then reconnect or turn flight mode on then wait for 20 or 30 secs then turn it off,with both options sometimes it works and other times it doesnt,i will try and find your blog and have a read,i have had a quick look at the router settings but dont know what to change,i do know the channel setting is set on auto with the option of changing from channel 1 to channel 9.

Open up the router management interface and have a look at the settings.

You should see the SSID (network name). Verify that's the one your clients are connecting to.
Make sure you've got the region set to New Zealand, it can reduce interference problems
Verify that there's a high enough "max clients" setting to cover more than your number of wireless devices.
Some devices have a "long range mode". Make sure it's off as it will degrade performance, especially near the access point.
Verify you have only the one SSID defined (unless you need a guest network, etc)

Use WPA2-PSK with TKIP/AES. Made sore the passphrase is complex. - numbers/letters/long.
You won't need a wireless bridge. For your config enabling it will degrade performance.
By all means try different channels - but usually AUTO is OK. (maybe your devices don't like frequency hopping)
The "Advanced" page could look like this (see image)

If you see Huge amounts of other wireless networks pop up on your surface, it could just be that the channels are used up/full.

I have got this router NF4V from Orcon as well, and managed to tweaked the HTML of the Advanced page for Wireless, and ran successfully with 5GHz, but unfortunately the performance was not as good as running at 2.4GHz.
Tested from only 2 metres away from the router, 2.4GHz constantly had Tx Rate of130Mbps, while 5GHz fluctuated between 2xMbps and 80Mbps; also tried watching a 720p movie from a NAS connected to the router, 2.4GHz was smoother than 5GHz. The channel for 5GHz was running at 161, and the router indicated the interference was acceptable.
Not sure what was wrong, so I switched back to 2.4GHz... Maybe it is hidden from the selection for a reason...
