Hey there,
Okay so:
I have both a desktop computer (which is more the family computer) and a laptop (which is my personal computer).

Since march of last year I have successfully been running a wireless connection from the router attatched to the desktop to my laptop. All this was working grand until this morning I turned on my computer and suddenly I cannot connect on the laptop (unless the modem is connected directly into the computer)

I use Windows Vista, and when I click on "connect to" It says that windows cannot find any networks (it usually finds many) and so I clicked on "Diagnoe why Windows can't find any networks" and it says 'The network adaptor "broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter" is experiencing drive or hardware related issues".

All my drivers etc are up todate and I also uninstalled and reinstalled the Network adaptor, but no luck so far. Also windows says (when I check) that everything (the drivers etc) are working fine.

If any body has any solution for this I would be greatly appreciative.

P.s: Ive tried restarting everything and also tried a tool called Winscok XP Fix. but no luck :(

Hi honerbright, I've found that wireless routers sometimes stop working and need to be switched off for a while, then later they work fine again.  This especially seems to happen when using laptops and I suggest you try  switching everything off (not using hibernate mode) and retrying.  Of course your problem could be completely different...

Perhaps wireless LAN is turned OFF on this laptop? Some have a switch and some require a combination of keys to turn wireless LAN on and off. It could be you or someone else hit the switch or keys by mistake?

If you right-click My Computer | Properties and go to the hardware list, can you see the wireless LAN adapter there? Is it turned on or does it have a yellow icon or something with an error?

It could also be that there's a hardware fault, but this is probably unlikely with those kind of devices.

Also, have you set an Admin password on your wireless router, to prevent someone changing it configuration? If left open some pranksters could easily change the configuration on the router and lock you out. It could be a good idea to reset the router to the factory settings and start again?

I don't recommend using third party tools to "fix" network problems as they can cause more problems.
