Hi

My first post.. be gentle!

I have a Xiaomi Xiaoyi IP Camera which creates it's own wifi hotspot, works great with my android tablet but i want to use it on my desktop PC.

I've used an ip cam searching tool but wasn't able to find the cam, after some searching online i discovered that the cam creates it's own wifi hotspot.

How can i access this hotspot with my desktop PC? I have a vodafone wireless router (can't remember the specs, at work atm) and the PC is connected via ethernet.

Is it possible for the router to connect to the hotpot?

Any help would be most appreciated :)

andrew

Firstly (all puns intended), congrats on your first post :)

Instead of running the IP Cam's own hotspot you should connect it to your local router and access it through that. I don't know anything about your camera but some of them have uPNP feature. That can automatically set up your router to allow for accessing your camera from outside your network. Or you can set up port forwarding in your router to allow this instead.

If you're not confident in doing all the above there'll be plenty of us to give you a hand, after you're done googling around for as much resources and assistance as you can ;)

Hope that provides a starting point.
