Hi there all, I was directed to this forum from the people of Reddit, I was told to continue my quest to search for some "spark-ies"

Anyway I'm having problems with my internet I have a asus dsl-n66u and spark vdsl unlimited plan I normally get 40down and 10up with a 20ping to the call plus server/world net server.

But recently my internet will just stop, I'll be still connected to the i kanos exchange but no internet connectivity it will display the message "there is no response from the remote server" now before you ask, yes I have tried googling this for many months trying to fix the issue, and my friend in Glen eden also has a dsl-n66u with the exact same internet plan with spark, and he has the same issue as me, the only way I have managed to restore internet access is factory reseting the router, (he has to do the same) , I have sat on hold many times on the spark help desk to be told that because I'm using a 3rd party modem its not their problem, so I don't know but the conspiast in me believe their either doing this to anoy me, or its something wrong with the dsl-n66u

So if anyone can help regarding this it would be verry helpful!

But i have been considering putting sparks modem we had to buy with our plan in and use it just in "modem" mode and my dsl-n66u in "router/switch" mode, I'm not 100%sure on how I can achieve this but would be open to suggestions,

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Welcome to Geekzone.

Firstly, there is no conspiracy with Spark and the modem you are using. Just to get that out there...

A quick GZ search reveals this http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=176990 so the common issue between that, you and your friend is the modem you are using.

You need to isolate that as the cause, so the first step is to go back to the one Spark supplied you, and see what happens - let us know the results.
