Hi geeks,

I'm looking for modem router suggestions, these are some that I've looked at today.

Asus DSL-AC68U

Netcomm NF8AC

Netgear D6300

Fritzbox 7490 (if that's what 2Degrees supplies for VDSL)

Main requirement: Stable PC gaming over LAN and a strong WiFi coverage for multiple devices including chromecast with a plex server.

Probably Unneeded: VoIP, VPN/GeoFencing

Also looking for suggestions for a provider, Actrix, BigPipe and 2Degrees are on the radar at the moment. (Looking for naked vdsl, with 200GB+/month)

I'm between 600m-1km from the VDSL cabinet, and I have no idea of current line attenuation rates. A master filter may be required.

You may find that ADSL will be better for gaming. As you can get the interleaving turned off - lower ping than VDSL alot of the time. Thought 1km was too far away for VDSL anyway.

Master filter is always a good idea.

So I should get ADSL on an open plan, install a master filter, monitor pings for a couple months and then try the upgrade to VDSL?

Any suggestions on a modem? Are there any modems that are considered to make the best of an average ADSL connection?

If you are on the verge of VDSL coverage, your ADSL should be pretty good - likely 15Mbps or more.

I would go for something like Netcomm NF8AC
Works well for ADSL, VDSL and UFB (if you ever get that)
Bigpipe have a grabone deal last I looked. (Might be expired now)
You might or might not need a master filter.
For one thing, it's possible the property already has one. It's also possible your wiring is decent enough to not need one, especially with naked VDSL where the landline won't interfere.
