(this is the built in bluetooth not a card) ill go onto my pc on the bluetooth menu with the icons, ill click on my pc. n den itll take ages to retrieve my services and in the end it just freezes, ill attemp to connect activesink to my pc and it says "this program has performed an illegal operation!" i realli need either an upgradei n the bluetooth manager or a link to get the previous one!

The Bluetooth stack on the h3970 (and h3870 too) supports only a maximum of seven services retrieved. If you're using a newer stack on your computer you probably have more services than this limit and this will cause a fault.

On your computer, disable services that are not required, like dial-up, fax, etc. Then soft reset your iPAQ and try again.

This is a problem with newer mobile phones too. Some Sony Ericsson phones now offer more than seven services, and old iPAQs will not work with these phones since there's no way to disable the service on the phone.

I recommend updating the h3970 to Windows Mobile 2003 if possible. This is no longer an issue on this version.

Check our Bluetooth Guides. There's one there for Activesync over Bluetooth.

The Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade is not free, and there's no download available - only CD.

The network acess over Bluetooth on Pocket PC OS 2002 does not have PAN (Personal Area Network), only LAP (LAN Access PPP). So it does not allow for browsing shared folders/files.

Is this "illegal operation" on your Pocket PC or the computer? Have you disabled all the services you don't need, on your computer?

Don't use the Windows Mobile 2003 from non-official suppliers. It may not be the correct one. For example an old beta version didn't have the Bluetooth stack, and a lot of people used that for a while - they found out that they couldn't go back to the previous version, and either got stuck or had to end up buying anyway. And also it's illegal to copy the software.

Thanks for the info, but no thanks. The files donwloaded from these networks are not always the correct ones. They also are illegal copies.
