"How all these things start " A mate here at work wants to have wireless around the house . Due to his location he has a D-link modem to boost his speed . He has the old Dynalink RTA770w wireless router and would like to run the D-link to the RTA to use the wireless . From a seach I found two threads on this and the general jist is I have to turn off the DHCP

yes the LAN ports usually act as an Ethernet bridge (ie hub) to the Wireless
as cyril said, disable the DHCP. also change it's LAN IP to one on the same subnet as your ADSL modem to make the web-based management work.
for example:
ADSL router IP = 192.168.1.1 (DHCP server)
Wireless bridge IP = 192.168.1.254 (DHCP off)

So I went into the RTA and turned off the dchp but there is two options , DCHP off relay on or DCHP and relay off . Whats best . If I go with all off , do I just need to enter the correct "wireless bridge IP , the RTA seems to want a dns entry also .
Any help would be appreciated , while I work out how to talk to the RTA router now that I have turned off DHCP
