Recently I purchased a bluetooth dongle and bluetooth headset to use for communications over a VoIP program called Ventrilo.  I plugged the dongle into a USB slot, and the Windows Bluetooth drivers recognized the dongle.  I set up pairing, and set the headset into pairing mode, and got the dongle and the headset to be paired.  However, for some reason the bluetooth drivers do not recognize the Services that the headset offers.

I have a screenshot of the bluetooth window attached below.

The device is on at the time of the screenshot.

Also, it seems that when I first enter the Services tab of BTWLHS02 Properties, the word Connected appears under the device in the Bluetooth Devices window.  But it's only there for a brief moment before dissappearing again after the search is over.

I am having a similar issue.  I purchased an Insignia Bluetooth headset model NS-BTHDP that deos not come with a dongle.  re.  I already have a Targus Bluetooth Dongle.

Initially I was able to succseffully pair the headset and computer and was able to get audio and headset functionality.  One day I was not able to get the headset to work.

I have not been able to determine what caused the problem other than a Microsoft update that had occured around the same time.

I recently purchased a new wireless mouse and keyboard.  A Logitech MX5500 Revolution.   I was sucsessfull in getting the mouse and keyboard to work with the supplied dongle.  I was not able to get the special funtions of the mouse or keyboard to work.

After trying to pair my pocket PC, headset and cellular phone to the new dongle I determined that the new mouse and keyboard were not actually using bluetooth but a built in fall back method.  The reason for use of the fall back method is because Logitechs software had not installed its own bluetooth software because of the existing Targus software already instlled.

After many hours on the phone with Logitech, Microsoft, Dell, Insignia, and Targus not much has been resolved.  Logitech had a technician that was patient enough to finally take the time to help me figure out what was going on.

He stayed on the line long enough to go through the scenarios of loading / unloading software till I was able to get the keyboard and mouse to work in Bluetooth mode.  This allows me to use the software for the mouse and keyboard and use the Logitech dongle as a bluetooth hub at the same time.

If the keybmouse is in RF (fall back) mode and the bluetooth hub does not work well on bluetooth mode simultaneously.  Due to this issue the bluetooth hub has to be shut down.

Before I got off the phone with the tech I confirmed that I was able to pair sucsessfully all my devices and re boot without any re connection issues.  It appeared the situation was solved......BUT.....I did not realize that there were not any services on the non-logitech devices.  Hence I have the same issue.  No services.

I have since called Insignia back and they only suggest to look up Widcomm on the internet and install it.

I have come to the conclusion that Widcomm is not being used much anymore due to the inclustion of the bluetooth stack built in on Windows XP SP2.   I have tried loading the targus software again but the included Widcomm will not recognize the logitech dongle.  It only recognizes the Targus dongle.  The Targus dongle does not have the same EDR functionallity and the logitech softare doesnt work with all devicesl.

The logitech software should load a Widcomm module but doesn't seem to want to because it sees the existance of the windows bluetooth stack built in on SP2.

Any suggestions?
