I am going to lose my friggin mind....

Cannot seem to get activesync to work with any bluetooth adapter...read the forums tried everything I techniocally know how to do and still nothing.

I thought I had all the settings right...NOT!

Here is what I have now...since I am now working of desktop

Belkin F8T013 bluettooth adapter
T-Mobile MDA
Dell Desktop

I think the problem is with the phone port settings.

I have activesync set to COM5
Device Manager lists COM5
Local Services COM5

MDA shows only:

Garmin GPS 10 (COM6)..this works great
New Outgoing
New Incoming

Services:

Headset
Dialup Networking
Wireless Stereo
Serial Port....no activesync anywhere

This is driving me nuts...I know nothing about WIDCOMM ports, phantom ports, but regardless I think the problem is that the phone only uses 6&7 as ports.  Do I keep adding ports on the Device Manager until I get to 7?

Are you running Windows Vista or Windows XP?

Delete the pairing from your device and create it again. Make sure your Bluetooth device is plugged directly to a USB port.

Never use a USB Hub. Also in the device manager (My Computer, Properties) make sure all USB Root have
the option for power management unchecked.

And check that software firewalls are not blocking any communication.

With Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6 there's no configuration to do on the device except for creating the pairing.

If the ActiveSync Connection Settings is correctly configured on your PC to a Service (Incoming) Bluetooth port then this is all that's needed.

Having said tha some old Belkin Bluetooth adapter were a bit of a pain to get going. The F8T013 must be at least four years old now and if you go back to 2005 you will see lots of old discussions on how these devices had problems - mostly with sound though.
