I have an HP iPAQ h4150 - love it.
I have a Sony Ericsson K700i phone - love it.

I have on problem though. Every time I disconnect a bluetooth based GPRS connection the phone crashed (the screen flashed white four or five times, and then restarts). The connection establishes perfectly, and works fine. I can sync to our Exchange server, surk the web etc, but when the link is disconnected the phone ALWAYS crashes. It doesn't matter how much or how little activity I do on the link, it's always the same result - phone crash.

I've tried two K700's and they both do the same thing, but a T610 I tries caused no problem. GPRS over bluetooth from the phone to a PC is fine too.

Summary:
- h4150 to K700, GPRS over IR - fine
- h4150 to K700, GPRS over BT - crashes
- h4150 to K700, file transfer/OBEX transfer - fine

- h4150 to T610, GPRS over BT - fine

- PC to K700, GPRS over BT - fine

So, it seems to be a combination of the h4150 and the K700, only with a bluetooth based GPRS connection.

Anyone else had the same problem? I guess I can live with it, it's just a pain.

Thanks
Stephen

Stephne, where are you located? You could check with a Sony Ericsson centre close to your place and see if there's a new firmware version for this phone. Also, you could try a total reset of this phone.

I've tested a K700i with my h4150 and didn't have this kind of problem with it.

I'm in New Zealand. I've been in touch with Vodafone here. Their technical people say it's an unknown problem, which is why they sent me a second phone. That one has the same problem though. I know there are newer versions of firmware for the phone, but not sure about "Vodafone NZ" branded versions.

Problem solved, here are the steps to help anyone else who has this problem:

Had the phone upgraded to firmware R2N. After this though, the iPAQ will no longer even create a GPRS connection over bluetooth with the phone.

The next (and most important) step is to include "Z" (uppercase Z) in the "Extra dial-string modem commands" string of the advanced settings for the bluetooth connection. Then it works.

Good luck
Stephen

ATZ is the standard modem reset in the Hayes command set... Strange, I've used the K700i with a h4150 during my review and it worked flawlessly. Go figure.

Thanks for the tip!

Hi, can you please help me.
I own a K700i and a hx4700. Until today BT / gprs worked perfectly under k700i firmware R2A041.
Just now I had the firmware upgraded to R2L001. The connection fails.
I read that i should add Z, but where do i add it?

My current dialstring:
+cgdcont=1,ÏP",ïnternet";+cgqmin=1

Thank you a lot in advance.

René

Add the Z at the beggining of your current string: Z;+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet";+cgqmin=1

Ok, great it works again.
The maximum number of characters seems to be reached by the way.
Many thanks
