PROBLEM

I have quite a few gadgets and computers/laptops. Recently I have bought 2 Keysonic Bluetooth keyboards. I successfully got them to pair and work with all machines except my IPaq 4700. It does pair with the PDA but it does not recognise services. BT Wizard Profile throws the following message:

“The device does not offer any usable services. Please enable any desired services on that device or choose another one.”

Please note I have recently upgraded my IPaq 4700 with WM6.

Following is a detail of the properties of IPaq 4700 built in Bluetooth:

BT SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION ON IPAQ

Bluetooth for Windows CE

BT – PPC – Version 1.7.1 Build 5500 (Broadcom Corporation)

Radio Present: Yes

Firmware Version: 2.26

Hardware Revision: 2.26

Driver Version: 0.02.00

Software version: 1.7.1.5500

MAC Address: 08-00-37-28-3D-82

POSSIBLE CAUSE

I only have the functional knowledge that how to make Bluetooth work to run different devices but I do not know in depth technical intricacies of the whole Bluetooth technology. At the top of my head all I can figure out is that the BT technology of my IPaq is not compatible with that both Keysonic keyboards.

I am pretty sure that the Keysonic keyboard does offer services as it has been offering to my other devices; hence the problem is not with the keyboard. It is rather with the IPaq which does not have the ability to recognise the offered services.

WHAT TO DO?

Please help me in sorting out this problem.

Windows Mobile does not support the HDI profile. You will need a program to "understand" what the keyboard is trying to say. There are some Bluetooth keyboards that work with Windows Mobile. In those cases you install a program that will connect to the keyboard using the serial profile and use its own protocol.

If the keyboard does not come with this program then it is likely it uses the native Bluetooth HDI profile, in which case it won't work with Windows Mobile devices.

Thank you for quick reply.1.       If the WM does not support HDI profile why my other Smartphone (SPV M3100), which has WM installed is working perfectly well with the Keysonic Keyboard?2.       Will you please refer to a programme that will connect to the keyboard using the serial profile and use its own protocol?

3.      Will any kind of registry editing do the trick?
