Im using a Belkin F5D7230-4 router, trying to port forward uTorrent to be Connectable(Green checkmark at the bottem).
I followed http://portforward.com guide for my router and then restarted router/pc, but still no green checkmark at the bottem of uTorrent.

Here are the pictures of my settings:

Should you really change your dns settings?

You might want to also make that entery for UDP.

ok i have the same problem. I have a linksys WRT54G, I've gone through all the steps on how to forward it in utorrent and bittorrent, and it still not green. i set a static and did evreything in the firwall of my security system and in my windows firewall, I know the statix is working because i still have internet, i set it to both, in the portforwarding window. please help me I reallyt dont know what to do.

AFAIK both the routers you guys have are just wireless routers and don't actually make the connection to the internet (ADSL or whatever.)
That means that you need to do the port forwarding in your actual router/modem that is giving you your internet connection.

That means that you need to do the port forwarding in your actual router/modem that is giving you your internet connection.

CYaBro is exactly right. Unless you are absolutely sure you can bridge the connection between your modem and router then you will most likely have to forward ports from the modem rather than the router.

The trouble with modems these days is that they generally support basic routing features themselves so what you end up having is a router behind a router. Not the ideal situation.

Do you HAVE to have a static IP for port forwarding to work?
I have a Huawei 520s (from Vodafone Red network) connected to my Win XP PC via network cable.
uTorrent works but I always get the Orange Triangle warning at the bottom. I was kinda hoping that would go away when I got a uPNP router. It didn't.

Interests: HTPC, Web App authoring.

"Port forwarding" opens a hole in the firewall. That hole HAS to point to the same IP address all the time for the connection to be properly established. If the P2P client's IP changes, then the hole in the firewall points to a different machine everytime (or most of the time).

1] try to set fixed IP for the computer (based on MAC address - should be easy to set)
2] open a port (port forwarding) or a ports range (like 8000 - 8500) to the IP you set for that computer.
3] make sure the P2P client software does NOT use a random port when connecting (check the application settings). For this example, set it to 8257, or any value in the specified range. You can go with any values, not sure how high, but I came accros an info that the lower ports are more difficult to block by ISPs...

After the settings are changed, it might take the client up to 1 minute in my case, to turn green. Or you can restart the application.

This is my understanding of the process, I hope the explanation makes sense... and does not step into a grey area...
