Hi All

I have sensors that communicate through a gateway which is connected to a cloud service in Europe.

We are trying to troubleshoot a data issue as we have an intermittent outage with some of the devices.

I believe I have isolated  the problem to the network outside our LAN. When devices connected to LAN there is an issue but when connected to 4G there is no issue.

We can see an initial handshake to the cloud in Europe then nothing.

To make matters worse we have existing devices in the fleet that are identically configured and work OK.

I need the services if a network engineer to help troubleshoot. PM me for more information.

Cheers

john

Hi John

What was the last thing that was changed?  That's often the first place to start.

Is it a particular router on your network that is interfering with the data transmission?  Is it a particular internet provider?  Last week there was an interuption to accing Microsoft services in NZ, and it was isolated to Vodafone broadband connections (but Vodafone 4G connections were fine) after a configuration change at an upstream provider (I believe).  Do you have the ability to move a piece of equipment not working as expected from its current network to one with a different router and internet provider to see if the problem dissappears?

Cheers
Mike

Do these sensors use outbound connections only or do they expect inbound connections?

What is your ISP?

How do you connect to your ISP (which router?) and how do you connect to 4G (via the same router?)

How are the devices in the fleet communicating (assuming a different LAN, connected via 4G, over Bluetooth, WiFi)?

I'm through with doing this as a DIY. I'm not skilled in this area.

I have tried these devices on multiple networks (hospital, office, home, office 2 all these on Spark + one on Voda), all with nil acceptance. I have isolated it (i think) to PoE devices as I have tried 2x non PoE (VDC) devices without bother.

The successful 4G connection is Spark (same device would not connect via LAN).

I am looking for someone to do a short term project to isolate this and rectify. PM me if interested with your $ rate
