Dear Sirs,

I have recently fixed a DSL Wireless router from Thomson TG585 v7 with a connection speed of 500Kbps (This router is issued by the ISP). It was working fine till last couple of days. The Router is shared by 4 of my friends through a hub. Now the problem is that the Internet gets disconnected after working for some time (Both wired and wireless connections) . It then reconnects on its on after a few seconds. Due to this unexpected disconnection of internet I'm not able to download any big files. Can anyone advise me how to get over with this problem. Is it due to Virus? During regular virus scan I traced some viruses and cleaned it from one of the system.

Thanks
Nambiar

Hi Nambar, welcome to Geekzone, as for your problem, as most folk on GeekZone are in NZ we are not exactly farmiliar with ISP plans in other countries, but you say your connection is 500kb/s is this due to a plan or the result of as fast as your connection goes?

Regardless the most common reason for continual disconnections is that the line conditions, in particular the length and thus the signal loss is too great, or that the voice and DSL devices are not correctly isolated from each other, ie not filtered correctly.

Could you post the ADSL connection status page details from your modem, this should show sync speed, attenuation, Signal margin (or S/N ratio). Also could you tell us what phone points you have in your home and if you have filtered each point and how.

Cheers
Cyril
