bluetooth car stereos? anyone know anything about them.

I'm looking for something I can connect my mobile to automatically to play the media on it and do hands free calling via the stero system. any ideas?

Try the Motorola T505 http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/T505/

I demo'ed one, it was a good unit. When you bluetooth it to your mobile, it will go "89.6 FM" (or similar) and you tune your radio to that and mobiles music comes out the car speakers. Like I've found all Motorola bluetooth devices, it has excellant sound clarity and a good stand-by time. Good echo reduction too.

Cheers, can this be wired into the car for power? it looks really good but having to charge batteries is never a good thing.

Sorry I've no idea. I would imagine it couldn't as its the "cheap" alternative to a fully installed carkit.

I know there's a Panasonic unit as well, but unfortunately don't have time to find you a link.

I suggest you check out the car audio displays at Repco and Super Cheap Auto so you can actually see what Bluetooth they units they have, what they look look etc.

Also talk to a company (or three) that specialise in car audio - look in the Yellow Pages (or look at them online) under "Car Audio Systems" and "Car Security Systems" for your local ones.

I have one in my car, it works well with my Nokia E71. The car stereo installers put a small microphone on the drivers side windscreen pillar.

When a call comes in, the caller ID flashes up on the radio (the cellphone is still in my pocket) and I can accept or deny the call from there, plus it turns the music down. Once the call is over, the cellphone disconnects and the stereo turns the music back up.

The one small issue I have is when first getting into the car, the stereo won't take the first call I make or receive until after 20 or so seconds (forcing me to use the cellphone). After this though, it answers all calls fine.

Great technology, I'd highly recommend. Certainly makes for safer driving.

I tried a friends no brand asian one, it largly worked, but it seemed to have the same noisy bluetooth reciever that most other a2dp headphones etc have - sound quality on music was really bad - not FM transmitter bad but more like a low bitrate MP3 bad, but in a different way. And the bad hiss that it got (again, not as bad as FM)

Not tried a real brand headdeck since they are stupidly overpriced and all that are less stupidly price come with an obsolete optical drive that only reads CD's

Well I plan on getting something around the time the next iphone comes out. it supports a2dp (as does the current model once the 3.0 firmware is out) so I' should be able to test it before making a purchase.
