Hi everyone,
Has anyone had any success in finding a modded firmware for this router? I've had a look on www.dd-wrt.com to see if there is anything there (I've read a bit about some homebrew firmwares improving signal).
I'm currently having to use my Win7 laptop as an ICS server to my two desktops, since its the only machine I've got that is giving me a good signal. The router is just about as far as it can be from where the PC's sit, (I am living in the flat below the in-law's house) and, due to the Telstra cabling, along with the house geography cannot be moved to a better location. I don't really want to invest in a WLAN relay station, as I already have a signal booster and high gain Dlink aerial connected to the router. I'm hoping that a firmware mod may give me that bit extra that I need to get a reliable and constant connection to the two boxes.
I've done some (I hope) pretty thorough research on the chipset used inside the XH9948, and about the best I can come up with is that its possibly Broadcom based. The manual isn't much help in that regard, and I'm hesitant to speak to DSE directly as I would imagine they'd be reluctant to give that information to me for fear of bricking the kit.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Ta, Leo
