Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend any possible\best\practical solutions for bridging 2 offices together using wireless? I'm looking at moderate bandwidth utilisation of around 50-80mbit tops, but it has to be reliable with approximate 15-20 metres span with line-of-sight.

I had a look at cisco wireless stuff but found it a bit confusing since i am not very familiar with cisco products.

Would this solution work for you? Without knowing the exact scenario won't be able to help as such, as need to know building heights etc too.

Hey thanks for your reply. I am looking for a directional wireless solution, if poss. I am more inclined to lean towards commercial options as reliability is essential. The artcle at least revealed the basics of putting it all together.

Do the dishes work better than the antenna pictured in the article? Would the buid be essentially the same? e.g. http://www.radiolabs.com/products/antennas/2.4gig/backfire.php?PHPSESSID=56e6e8f237748a3a3cb6a7994b500053

I am unsure whether it is possible to use something like that over short distance?

I've heard gowifi.co.nz are good for this kind of thing, perhaps flick them an email?

no chance of running a wire either above ground, or underground? would be cheapest option after 802.11 wireless

Yeah I thought about it but 2 different building owners makes things difficult and doing it sneakily poses too much risk. Specked it out already :P

Sent gowifi an email, thanks for that.

Now to work out the rest :P

i have a customer, they have 2 offices accross the road from each other, 40 metres or so line of sight, and am using 2x Ubiquiti NanoStation5 NS5 802.11a 250mW Outdoor from gowifi,

they have worked out really well, not hard to configure, website will guide you though it, reasonable price, cost less than 500 for both, and so far and been reliable, havent had to touch them since installation 4 months ago

also they dont require an aerial as its built into the unit.

Interesting, i'll have a look thanks Dan.

I am considering purchasing 2 cisco aironet 1300s. Anyone have experience with them? Its a bit complex to configure but it seems like a decent product. I guess the biggest challenge I face is making sure that alignment is right (and hopefully not too much intereference as it will go over 2.4ghz band).
