Hi
I have a wired LAN at home, with 4 PC's, and the host machine runs Windows XP. I have a Gigabyte bluetooth dongle in the host PC. I also have a Palm m130 with a Bluetooth card.
I can successfully log on to the network using the Palm over bluetooth. I can browse the internet. What I cannot do is Ping the host machine, and the host cannot Ping the Palm. I get a timeout message. The strange thing is that I can Ping all the other machines on the network from the Palm, and can Ping the Palm from them. Also, I can Ping the host from all the other machines.
The reason I want to get Ping working is so that I can use PalmVNC to remotely control the PC

Is the host machine running a personal firewall? Perhaps blocking ICMP messages?

I have the XP firewall running. I tried changing its ICMP settings, but it made no difference

You might want to turn it off completely to test. A personal firewall like NIS or Zone Alarm will allow you to fine tune these settings more easily.

Disabled XP firewall. Still the same. Good idea though
