I'm looking for the 1.4.1.6 driver as said in a topic on this newsgroup for the Microsoft Bluetooth dongle.
The link to the driver is down and I've searched for hours now and cant find what I need.
The intended link was: http://www.goalray.com/message/BTW-1.4.1.6.zip

Hope someone can help.

Many Thanks

Ash

Ash, it's been about a month since I saw this site first referenced. You can get in through the main domain. The complete URL is incorrect because they've pulled the page with the 1.4.1.6. Using a Chinese translator, it appears that in order to protect their intellectual property rights, the MAC address of their adapter is required to get the security key for their Widcomm drivers.

As you may know, D-Link would be your other source; however, they also employ this same security.

The Dell 1.4.1.4 work the same way as the 1.4.1.6 ones do, so you can download them here:

no difference between 1.4.1.4 and 1.4.1.6?
btw. what's the difference between the drivers at all? eg the 1.3 and 1.4?
And as i'm rather curious :), what can a new firmware do for me?

jethro, AFAIK

1.3 implemented profile for headsets
1.4 implemented profile for HID

And other little things (these are the biggies).

Agree with Mauricio on his comments on enhanced profiles available in 1.4. I have the D-Link adapter which is one of the few vendors that has distributed this build.

HID is the biggie, but the audio gateway and headset upgrades show a lot of potential. Connecting my HBH-35 with my pc is pretty cool, although you should note that audio is mono only and transmission sometimes breaks up when the CPU kicks up. So not quite there if looking to use with gaming or anything that's heavy CPU intensive.

I have used the headset with yahoo messenger and netmeeting with mixed results. Varying internet bandwidth coupled with sometimes high CPU can make it a little frustrating with the mike.

Haven't started to dabble with the audio gateway, since it moves into more advanced telephony, but will report back as I get more info.

Mauricio, do you have more info on the audio gateway and the differences from the basic headset profile?

My apologies. The HID is included in the Widcomm 1.4.1.6 drivers; however, it's up to the vendor as to the profiles they wish to support.

You've probably read in the news of Microsoft's bluetooth deployment with its keyboard/mouse offering. HID is obviously supported for its transceiver; however, the serial profile is not available. So, if you load the software, mobile and pda users lose the ability to sync with their pc. PR is that MS doesn't want to continue with virtual com port profiles??

What do you expect, it's MS!!??

Do you mean the microsoft usb?? If so, Dell's drivers won't work. You have to use MS. Currently, it's either/or.....

There's some further discussion on this issue in the Bluetooth forum. Solution required a hack of the drivers.
