Hi Everyone,

I'm new to all this BlueTooth business, so please forgive the nature of my question. I've got two BlueTooth enabled cell (mobile) phones: Sony Ericsson T68i and Motorola V3 RAZR.

I recently purchased an IVT Corporation ES-3881 BlueTooth dongle. I was able to install the dongle on my WinXP SP2 system with no issues (device manager reports that the dongle is installed and functioning properly). The dongle came with a mini-CD containing software called BlueSoleil. I have installed this software... and it seems to be happy with the presence of my dongle. However, the problem I'm facing is that when I go to "Device Discovery" within the BlueSoleil menus, it doesn't seem to pick up the presence of any of my phones. I've got both phones on "Discover Me" mode. BlueSoleil just sits there for what seems an eternity without finding anything.

I've installed the dongle on my machine at home (WinXP SP1) and at work (WinXP SP2) with the same results.

Is this a dongle issue, a software issue, or a phone issue?

Thanks is advance.

Welcome to Geekzone.

Strange issue. The phones should be visible as small "planets" around the "sun" in the BlueSoleil user interface.

Make sure the dongle is connected directly to your computer, not to a USB HUB. Also, look at the Device Manager (Control Panel | System) and uncheck the Power Management boxes for all USB Root HUB listed in your computer.
