i am gonna feel like an idiot for asking,but im new to computers so i am hoping someone will be nice and help.
i am looking into buying my first handheld,and ipaq3955 that has integrated bluetooth.can you explain to me how it will be connected to the internet? i have read a little on this forum so i understand it shares a connection somehow w/ my laptop. i have dsl, do i have to buy a card for my laptop? do i have to subscribe to service?is it hard to set up the connection?
please give me the details or tell me where to look. thanks alot.

To connect your Bluetooth enabled Pocket PC to another Bluetooth device both will need Bluetooth (of course). For laptops and desktops the easiest way to add Bluetooth is by adding a USB adapter. There are a few brands around. TDK, Bluetake and Belkin are some good brands.

Once you have installed the software and plugged the adapter you'll proceed to discover devices. Your computer will search for other Bluetooth devices - and find your Pocket PC (make sure "allow other devices to find me" is set).

Once you find devices you'll pair them. This will create a link between the devices, so they know each other.

Once you have these devices paired you can use services. For instance your desktop will have a Serial Port service. If you configure the Activesync software to look for incoming connections on this port, as soon as your Pocket PC connects to it (as a client), the Activesync will start.

LAN Access is another service. You can share an existing LAN connection (network card) to a new virtual adapter created by your Bluetooth installation.

When your Pocket PC connects to the service, your computer will act as a router so it can access the internet.

You can pair a Bluetooth mobile phone and your Pocket PC, so you can access the internet using your mobile as digital modem.
