Hi, I am at my wits end.

We changed phone carrier to get unlimited downloads for students, however since then the connection kept dropping out. When i rang AAPT they said it was because my Netgear Modem wasnt supported by them - yet it worked perfectly before.
So they sent me Thomson TG585v7 and 3 of the laptops in the house can get on no problems but one just cant seem to access it. I dont know why? This happens regardless of how many users are online and where in the house they are. But her computer was working on the other modem.

On top of this, the modem started flashing and the internet light went out for about 10 min,...is this usual. how can i fix it? can anyone give me some good advice?

So.. Wired or wireless network connection on the lappy?

Assuming you may not have a manual for your modem, this site http://www.technostation.com/user-guide-owners-manual/Thomson/THOMSON+TG585v7 has a .pdf download for free ;)

As for

Many number of things can cause your modem to disconnect
-moden overheating
-isp upgrading hardware/software
-foul connections
-car crashing into lamppost
-modem firmware out of date
-large distance from exchange
-ect ect ;)

ADSL can have temporary disconnections, its the nature of a residential internet service but if its happening frequently or if the ADSL datarate is slowing down all the time then call your ISP.

Check that your 4th laptop doesnt have a static IP address, it should be set to automatic.

Time to find a new industry!
