Hi There,

Simple question:
Which wifi router currently available in NZ has the best range? Our current router is in a cupboard in the front of the house (on top of the server), and I want to receive a signal in our bedroom at the back of the house, through several walls etc... That way I can surf the net in bed on my iPod Touch while my wife is sleeping, in true geek fashion.

What's the best router to do that? And also to serve a reasonable bandwidith stream to the XBox 360 plugged into the TV in the lounge? At present we use the XBox to stream movies etc off the server, but thinking of getting one of those WD TV Live HD Media Players, and would be good to get decent bandwidth to that too.

So, any ideas?

What about an AirPort Extreme, and possibly adding an AirPort Express to the setup as well? I use a TimeCapsule upstairs, and have an AirPort Express downstairs which I use to extend the network, and this gives me full and solid Wi-Fi coverage throughout the house, despite going through several walls, past a couple cordless phones, refridgerators and microwave. I use a Mac but these things are designed to work with a PC as well. They're very easy to setup and customise, but I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. The advantage of the AirPort Express is you can move it to wherever you need it in the house. Here's the link on Apple's site if you need it:

Unless you have N devices all round, you will not find good reliable performance non line of sight like that.

Get another accesspoint and put it in the room that you want to use the devices in and it will work best, next room over will probably be ok too.
