I have a WIN98SE PC and a ipaq 1945.
I bought a USB BT doggle. Installed DCOM as it suggested.

Got some connection with their applications, which showed a "Bluetooth Neighboorhood" in Windows Explorer. But could find no way to access internet or activesync.

I am totally at a loss with WIN98SE Bluetooth.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fred

The Windows 98SE configuration for Internet Sharing is very similar to Windows 2000. The ICS part is not installed with the base OS, so you need to install it before going ahead with your Internet Sharing over Bluetooth. You have to go to Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs, Add Windows Components and find ICS. This not Bluetooth specific, but OS related.

ActiveSync configuration is exactly the same as Windows 2000, so you should be able to follow one of our Bluetooth Guides for this...

ICS was not on my machine or in the Install section. I had a heck of a time installing it off of my WIN98SE Full Install cd. Put it in though.

Ran it, and it destroyed all internet connections in my computer. Made a real mess of the machine. I use a router and DSL and a firewall.

I appreciate your help.

I had to restore my entire system from a backup.

Got my ipaq stuff reinstalled and running, and am done with Bluetooth, unless there is another option for WIN98SE.

When I restored my system I lost all my new bookmarks to all the good sites i used to get ICS installed.

Oh well.

Thanks for the help! I did not have much luck with Bluetooth, LOL.

The next day I did reinstall the bluetooth stuff for the doggle. I did get a connection ok, but no services could be found on the PC from the PPC.

The programs provided seemed not to match the documentation. The docs made it look easy. The key for me was finding com port numbers. The method described did not work for me.

They said try the beta updates, and these would not even install.

I returned the doggle, and got a great cheap SD 256mb card for just a bit more.

I sure would like some email from someone who uses PocketPC 2003 and WIN98SE!

Thanks again!

Thanks for the update... It's a shame it didn't work for you, but I guess an update to Windows 2000 or Windows XP is out of question at the moment.

Nah. No upgrading for me.

I have an old PIII and another I built a year ago I made for mainly new fast games (online).

WIN98SE is more friendly to these games than WINXP, so I bought WIN98SE cdrom instead of XP.
