After some hours last night and tonight of following the many suggestions here and having some difficulty pairing the keyboard and mouse (like many here it seems). I have managed to get it working. Here is a list of steps I performed which might help some of the rest of you

1: Get a copy of BTW 1.4.1.6 (You should know where by now)
2: Unpack and install exactly as is. Dont touch any of the files.
3: Wait for the screen to appear that warns about there not being any signing for bluetooth drivers
4: Hex edit the btsec.dll in situ (..system32\btsec.dll) as specified previously
5: Continue the installation right through to the end.
6: Go into the device manager and update the microsoft bluetooth tranciever with the btwusb.sys from the program files\widcomm\bin directory.
7: Run the bluetooth configuration in the control panel
8: Complete the rest of the configuration, both the keyboard and mouse should
be recognised correctly.

Well it worked for me. I hope it helps some of the others out there that are still struggling.

Got a question, will this make the keyboard work in other OSes, like Win98 or Win2000?

Later,
