I have a Netgear MBR624GU router at IP address 166.141.100.254 that I need to have all traffic routed to 192.168.2.10. When I set it up based on the instructions I have and enter 166.141.100.254 into any browser I get a timeout error instead of the webpage at 192.168.2.10. what am I doing wrong? Before anyone says to try it from another computer, I am not that stupid not to have tried that a long time ago. If you want to look at what I have setup go to 166.141.100.254:8081 Username: admin Password: password and have a look. I am looking for an educational fix so please tell me how and why to do things. Thanks
Go into Wan Setup then change the DMZ Server to the PC you want all traffic directed to. Also - Disable Remote Management and change the password of the router - While your at it remove the IP / Port from your post. We _do not_ need access to your router, remember - this is the Internet and you don't know who you are going to get.
Another way is to go into Services and add a port forward to the required service on the computer. Follow the directions on http://portforward.com/ to achieve this.
But _Right Now_ close off remote access, change the password of the router, and edit your post above to show this, you should _Never_ post such info on public forums, this is very dangerous since there are Botnet Worms out there looking for open routers like yours (Read about Psyb0t at http://bit.ly/a2mz1L )
Another thing to check is if your ISP is blocking the service your attempting to set up, remember Google is your friend, and so is the helpdesk at your ISP.
MichealMurfy, if you had looked at my settings in the router that I left open to all, you would have seen that I had already setup a dmz and port forwarding. so look at it and find my misstakes first before telling me to shut it down.
