Let's see. My brain hurts. What haven't I tried?

I have a Palm Tungsten T3. Connecting to a Tecom BT3021 access point, connected to my home Ethernet network. Presently, the AP is connected directly to my router.

I have configured the Tecom BT access point. Presently, it's obtaining IP address automatically, but I've tried it with a fixed IP address and get the same results.

On the T3, under Preferences | Bluetooth, the Palm recognizes the Tecom as a trusted device. So, no trouble with the Bluetooth passkey, I take it.

Under Preferences | Connection, I have created a new Available Connection. Connect to Local Network. Via Bluetooth. Device is the trusted access point. Under "Details" the speed is 115,200 bps and the Flow Ctrl is "Automatic."

Under Preferences | Network I have created a new service. User Name and Password are blank. The Connection is the Connection I created with the trusted AP. Connection type is PPP, Idle timeout is "Never", Query DNS is checked and IP address is set to "Automatic."

There is no script.

When I go to connect, the Service Connection Progress never gets past "Signing on Negotiating".

Eventually, there's an "Error: PPP timeout (0x1231)"

Sheesh. I mean, if I want to hook a PC up to this network, I have a much easier time.

Any suggestions as to what I've missed? I had hoped, running the AP off a router and all, that this would be easy.

Have you tried using the following script:

SEND CR
DELAY 1
SEND CLIENT
WAITFOR CLIENTSERVER
END

WAT?? you were actually able to get you T3 to "login" When I try to add the TECOM BT3021 to my "trusted devices" list I get a password prompt. There were NO instructions in the box or on the CD as to what the password is or how to change it. I was able to pull up a login in screen in my browser ONE TIME.. but even then I had another login page.

How did you even get to the point you are?

When you're adding a device to the "trusted" list you are doing what's called "pairing". This ensures that only devices known to each other (and authorised) will access services offered.

The password it asks during this process is established by you. When it asks for the PIN enter a four digit number - any number. The other device will then ask for the PIN, and you'll enter the same. This will create the "pair".

ok, well I went a different route... I found a step by step on some other web site. My particular initial problem (this is a huge duh!) my PC was NOT plugged into my ethernet switch. (I use my iMAC most of the time)

Right now I see this as more of a geek-neato thing since the T3 constantly needs to be recharged anyway...just pop it in the cradle and push the button...

I still am not quite there... I am aiming to get things going on the Apple side first. I am picking up a copy of OS X Panther tomarrow.... ( running.. gags... 10.1.5 now and it REALLY sux so I still use 9.2 alot) I should have no problems since Bluetooth has been built in since 10.2 Then I will get it going on the PC and get another AP for work... Should be sweet.. Walk in the door push a few buttons and get my emails to go. I am dreaming of paperless work orders and electronic signature acceptance just for the neato factor.

(Apple did $4 BILLION$ in music downloads so far this year, however 80% is going back to the music industry and the remainder does not quite cover their cost, they are banking on iPOD sales the 30 GIG model will hold over 10,000 songs. Just imagine being able to have a library that big in your pocket ...whoa...)
