I am able to setup shared internet connections with my palm and I start receiving the data. But after a couple seconds (or about 50-70k) the connection is lost.

When I view "My Network Access", it shows a good connection for the first bit, then the signal strength suddenly drops to nothing. I am not out of range, I am right beside the computer.

The palm does not register the connection loss, and still allows me to "Disconnect" even though I am already disconnected so to speak.

Anyone experienced a similar problem or know how to fix this one?

NOTE: I can Hotsync with bluetooth fine with no connection loss. I can also ping websites well until the connection is lost.

Make sure your Bluetooth adapter is connected directly to a USB port, not a USB Hub. Also make sure the Power Management box is unchecked (Start | Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager | Universal Serial Bus Controllers | USB Root Hub | Power Management).

Check for interference from other sources - microwave oven, cordless phones, Wi-Fi access points, medical equipment or anything using the ISM band (2.4GHz).

Also, check that this USB port is not faulty. It pays to use a PCI USB card sometimes.

Well I've tried almost everything:
- I have no USB Hub
- I unchecked the box
- I do not have Wi-Fi
- The microwave is off
- As is the cordless phone
- And I've switched the adapter around to all my USB Ports

Still the "My Network Sharing" says not connected after ~75K

Also, the odd thing is that last week I purchased a Kensington Bluetooth Adapter, and I got the internet to work on my Palm.

I returned the Kensington because I was not satisfied with the range (67 ft vs. 330 on the Iogear).
I was able to setup that one quite fast.

I am beginning to wonder what differences the Iogear has vs. the Kensington that it causing me so many problems

Could it be the adapter?

Any advice?

There are differences between brands, but most share the same chipset (there are a couple being used I think). It can be something with the hardware, but it will be hard to pinpoint.

Also, Bluetooth is a personal area network technology, suitable for very small spaces - don't think you can get better than 5 to 6 m radius wth a PDA...

I simply want to be able to access the internet from anywhere in my house, which the Kensington did not let me do.

I have read on amazon.com on customer reviews for the Iogear that say they have got the internet to work... so it is possible.

It is possible but "access the internet from anywhere in my house" will probably require Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth...

In the reviews I have read, many people have found this to be possible.

But that is beside the point. I wanna know why its not working!
