Hi, anyone can help on setting a TP-LINK TD-W8960N to work with Slingshot?

I tried the provided settings from my ISP but it doesn't work...

Are you in the NBT network or telecom wholesale network?
If it is in the telecom wholesale area then it should definitley work

You use the quick setup wizard first

VPI/VCI 0/100
UBR without PCR
PPP over ATM (PPPoA)
Encapsulation mode: VC-MUX
username@slingshot.co.nz
password

That should do it

Hi Ray, thanks for replying.

I'm not sure what network I am in... I just signed up slingshot broadband and landline together.

I tried using the quick setup with the info provided by the ISP (same as the settings above), but the router doesn't connect to the ISP. I can use the wireless network with no problem, the only problem is that there is no internet.

Hi do not use the quick setup, it will force the australian defaults of 8/35, use the advance setup as follows assuming the interface is the same as the TD-8840

Advanced setup, then Wan, then click the edit button on the right.

VPI =0, VCI= 100
UBR without PCR
and dont click enable quality of service

PPP over ATM
VC/MUX

fill in account and password with auto authentiction, leave all else on this page unticked

click enable WAN service

Then save.

Hope that helps
Cyril

Can you please try logging into the slingshot website using the part before the @slingshot.co.nz as your login name.

They have been known to sometimes forget to setup peoples accounts on the radius server.

I can log into their website using my username (the part before @slingshot.co.nz) and password... The password is the same I set in the router

This has got to be a problem on slingshots end because your modem is syncing with the exchange

Test the connection to your DSL service provider
Test ADSL Synchronization: PASS Help
Test ATM OAM segment ping: PASS Help

Can you try and find the log page in the modem and copy / paste it into here?

There it is in the last line

Try your username with
@slingshot.co.nz and also try
@jetbuster.co.nz or .net.nz

jetbuster was the old format.

But as it says PPP authentication failed. They may need to reset your password, or they set it up wrong.

I tried the different combination of user names, still not working.

I finally was able to contact Slingshot customer service this afternoon and they informed me my settings were correct... They said they were going to contact the IT department to solve this issue... The guy mentioned that my account would need to be activated... I found it very weird as I have an email and letter from them saying it was activated about 10 days ago... So far is not working, I will wait until tomorrow and call them again (what is very difficult for me during business hours)

I will keep you informed as it goes...

Thanks

Yea this sounds normal
They only ever seem to do half of what you instruct.
