Hi all,
In the last two days I have begun having a really annoying problem with my wireless network connection on my HP 530 laptop. I will be connected to the internet via my wireless router just fine and then all of a sudden it will become disconnected from the internet.
When I look at the connection when this happens it changes from local and internet to just local so there is still a connection from my laptop to the wireless router but there is an "X" from the router to the internet. When I click 'diagnose' it says the network key is incorrect (but I haven't changed it!) soooo i'll put it in again and it still says it is incorrect - its as if its going back to some other default key or something cos everytime I put it in it doesn't work. However, if I restart my computer it starts up again fine, then unpredictably (i.e. not when I open a certain program etc) it will drop off again and say the security key is wrong again.
I know I'm not putting in the wrong network key because my Ipod will connect fine, and so will my desktop computer, ps3, and cellphone to the network without any problems whatsoever - all wireless connection not wired. When the laptop loses connection all the rest are okay so it is only my laptop with the problem. Why would it keep saying the network security key is wrong?! Would a recent update have messed with things?
It is an:
HP 530 laptop
Windows Vista Business
Service Pack 2
Intel(R) PRO/ 100 Network Connection
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
Router is a SMC 7904WBRA2
In the last two days it has been hours that the connection is okay, and then sometimes it has dropped out after only a few mins over and over again. I haven't changed any settings so I don't know why this would have started happening.
Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated.
