Hi, I have a Palm T5 and a PC paired via bluetooth. After a litle of work, I can ping from the pc to the palm and from the palm to the pc, But when I try to ping outside, I got the next:

Pinging www.Google.com [64.233.187.104] with 32 bytes of data:

Request Time Out Error Intervalo de espera (0x1212)
time 0ms

As the palm is translating goggle to the ip, I tought is not a dns problem.

I'm trying to go to internet trougth my office LAN. I don't know if it have a firewall or something blocking my palm... I know that we have to connect internet explorer through a proxy called CSPM, but I don't know how to get the ip, or if it is the one thet is blocking my palm. I have ICS active and the windows xp firewall off

I connect my palm at home, and the internet works ok, but in my work, I just can't.

I hope that you can help me with this and thank you all.

Can you ping the server by IP address? Have you entered the correct DNS address(es) on the ICS configuration (the "to" network adapter)?

Could it be a softwar firewall on your computer that is blocking communications? Bluetooth will use some ports that sometime may be blocked.

Well, the DNS are ok, and I was not able to ping by IP, altought palm can "translate " the address to ip, and I said was, because suddenly, without change anything, I can ping internet with the register tool, so I have access to the internet. Now, Xiino is sending me a message that said socket closed by peer, And I don't know what it means... Blazer doesn't work too.

I can ping www.geekzoone.co.nz, but I can't use my browsers.....

No firewalls in the PC, as I said, I disabled the windows xp firewall

I know this are not connectivity problems, and altougth I don't know why are the connection working now, I want to know if somebody know what "socket closed by peer" mean.

well, is not working again.... Today, pinging to the net is not working again. I don't know why, but now it is giving me a timeout error. I followed all the tutorials that I found, but I just can go to intenet with my palm, ICS and my PC...

In Windows XP I have
ICS, and in the configuration window I move nothing, only select all the services...

In my bluetooth lan I have

IP 192.168.0.1
mask 255.255.255.0
DNS's as ipconfig give me
gateway: no one

in palm,
PPP conection
IP automatic
DNS: 192.168.0.1 and one that ipconfig give me
no script (I tried it, with no diference)

Can you tell me what I did wrong with that?

Ok, that is it.... I'm going crazy. I don't like to post similar questions in different forums, but I don't know if my problem is for the palm, o bluetooth, so I post a similar message in the palm forums... I hope this is not a violation or some rule or something....

After a lot of trying with ICS, I decide to try a Bridge connection. With this bridge, I have notice some "funny" things.

First Time I connect my palm to the net, I can't Ping www.wathever.com.
My Browser (xiino and blazer) returns A Timeout error (because can't find DNS. It blocks in the "locking for DNS" message)

If I ping to the PC from palm, or the palm from the PC, the ping results ok, and after that, I can ping www.wathever.com
The browser (xiino) now return a "Socket closed by peer" error, Blazer just tell me the page can not be load, but I can connect Versamail with my pop email acount. (this does not happen with ICS)

If I left the palm steady, connected to the LAN for a while, then try to open some site with the browser, the Timeout error returns! And I can't ping to www.wathever.com. I have to ping to palm from PC or PC from Palm again, then, the "socket closed" error returns, but i can ping outside...

With ICS, the IP in my palm was 192.168.0.2 And my PC IP was 172.x.x.x, now, with the bridge, the IP of the palm is 172.x.x.x but I can't ping others PC in the LAN than my own, altougth I can ping the IP's from my PC, no matter what I ping first...

My PC uses a proxy sever, but it have a name, not an IP, and a port, as I saw in the Explorer LAN configurations. If I write the name and the port in xiino, it just said "host does not exists". I clear the option and the "socket closed by peer" error returns.

So, does anybody have an idea wath a heck is happening here? I have been working in this almost three monts (not all time of course;) ) And Found no answer. In home, the connection was a dream with the guides and so, but I think is because I have only one PC and it is connect directly to de Internet, not a LAN. Here, I don't know the configuration of my LAN, and I can ask, because connecting other devices to the net is a kind of "not justificable purpose" so, not help that way....

You will see that a Bridge requires a DHCP server somewhere or manual configuration on your Palm, and since you can't ask for help this will make it more difficult.

The ICS option (no Bridge) is good for the Palm because your PC can assign the addresses, acting as a mini-DHCP server for your own local network.

I think your company is probably using a combination of transparent proxy which requires some sort of authentication (hence the connection closed by peer) and some DNS server that only accepts connection from known addresses.

Since the setup works for you at home, we could rule out problems in creating this - you already know it works and how to do it.

I am afraid this will probably not work on your work LAN...

Well, I afraid it could be true.... but I just want to know if somebody has a situation like this... I'll keep trying and post the results here, just in case that somebody else search for this kind of "solution". Thanks anyway...

I GOT IT, I GOT IT! The solution was so obvious that I can't see it before! Well, this is what I have

I make my connection with a bridge, so, my palm have a IP according to my LAN IP's (I mean 172.x.x.x, not 192.x.x.x), Because the DHCP in my LAN actually can assign the IP to my T5.

For some reason, I can ping to internet, but my browser does not work... Why? the $%%/$/&)(/%$# Proxy... As I said, in the Internet explorer, it have a name, not an IP address....

So, Whats the solution? Just PING that name!!!! In that way, I get the proxy IP, Write it in Xinno, and, Eureka! I have Internet, trougth the LAN, to My linksys Bluetooth adapter and , Finally! my T5.....

I will try to reset the connections to ICS, just to see if I could have this thing working weeks ago......

Thanks for the help and for the guides! I never have realized how to do this without them...

(by the way... sorry for my bad english... I like to think that I write worst than how I speak it)
