I have followed teh guides to the letter and all goes well until on my Ipaq 5550 the 'connectting to host' box appears at this point it just gets stuck and i have to manually close it. Is there anything I can do to get it working, have tried changing the serial port number from 4 to 5 both on the tdk adapter and on the as set up screen, still no joy.

Thanks for any help

Jerry

Do you have any personal firewall running on your computer?

Jerry some personal firewalls are still active even while disabled. For instance with Symantec Desktop (not NIS), if you hit the Disable button it'll still prevent Bluetooth establishing a network connection. If you uncheck the Start with Windows box and reboot then it'll allow connections. Simple as it seems, these software are really making a mess of some environments.

Do you want to give a try without loading the software at all during boot?

Also, make sure there are no other programs competing for the same COM ports, and if possible make sure you have only one COM port Local Service defined.

Other than that can't think of anything else.

Hey Mauricio

You r a genius that was it booted without the firewall and all was well, what had really confused me was I had allowed all activity for Active sync and it still did not want to know. So now I have my firewall running and am able to sync via BT and even surf and collect email from downstairs.

Many thanks

Hey Jerry, so after rebooting without the firewall, doing the ActiveSync and all, you have re-enabled it? And after this it's working right?

Just trying to figure out if there's a pattern. With Symantec Dekstop you can't have it at all.

Hi Mauricio,

After you mentioned the firewall, the first thing I did was allow full access for WCESCOMM.EXE, when this did not workk I turned Outpost off completely, still no joy.

I then followed ur message to reboot with out Outpost starting up at all. This worked, I then rebooted and allowed full access to WCESCOMM.EXE and its all working fine and dandy now.

Thanks a bunch
