I have a problem! did something like change the security setting to my wireless router which was an open one. And now my computer is not reading the wireless network to it...
says "the settings on this computer does not match the requirements for the network??....need some simple steps to help me get this going if possible please. Belken wireless G router i have.

What did you set the router's security settings to? Post a screenshot of the router security setup. Then see if you can get windows to refresh/reconnect somehow.

Mate im not sure how i did the router but it bought up a belken website type page with my routers details and it was new to me where i made some changes...just trying to find it now any ideas how i can bring this back up??...not very IT savy..lol cheers mate

Quick and easy solution is to do a factory reset, look in your manual for instructions.

Valtam...cheers bro did the trick back up and running but name is now the brand and not my usual user name how do i change this? and one more thing, how do i go and make a security code thing on the connection? did the right click properties thing to make it secure, did the message cameback again " setting on this computer does not match the network...any ideas here please?

You need to enable WPA2 (Or WPA if it doesn't do WPA2) ("encryption") in your wireless router and then use the password you set for it on all your wireless devices. Check the router manual for how to do that.

The "name" of the router is the SSID, again, your manual should tel you how to do that.

man this is still stuffin me up>> did the reset of the wireless router then when my laptop picked up the signal (belkin54g) message reads- The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network.....help please if able....

How old is this router? I bought a Belkin a couple of weeks ago, the worst tech purchase of my life. Took it back after 10 days of frustration and got a Netgear DGND3700. http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=395771 Killer piece of kit, dual band, gigabit, adsl2+ all in one, great web UI, simple to set up.

Mate think your right needing the upgrade wireless modemn is about 3-4 years, although the modemn its connected too is only a year old?.....could be the laptop too as ive had the acer for around the same amount of time as the wireless....sucks when you cant solve the issue, just going to have to sit on an unsecured network i suppose....lol
