Hi,
I have a Cisco 1841 installed in Christchurch in 2008; and using the following atm config. TNZ advised today that the service has product code HS-ADSL2-LM. It stopped working around September this year.

If we unplug the RJ11 from the 1841 atm0/1/0 and plug it into a DLINK modem we can browse the internet etc etc. Phone calls also work.

TNZ has 'refreshed' the dslam. Cisco hardware has been replaced...no improvement.
With Debug atm events we see below //////.

Any suggestions.
Is the config okay to get the initial atm OPEN working?
Is it a dud splitter, physical pin out problem or ?? Layer 1 is DOWN/DOWN.

Any ideas on this tricky one.

What dlink router are you using and what are the connection rates?

You could try changing the config from dsl operating mode auto to g.dmt and see if that resolves the problem. If that works (and you have good connect rates) it could be worthwhile trying the auto setting and interleaving off.

Hi,
I'm working from a distance here, I can't tell you what sort of DLINK modem it was, but they did say it was pretty slow when looking at the internet. The phone line part works perfectly.

The Cisco only offers the following dsl op modes

xxxxxxxx(config-if)#dsl operating-mode ?
ansi-dmt      ANSI full rate mode
auto          auto detect mode
itu-dmt       ITU full rate mode
splitterless G.lite mode

I can't plug/unplug the atm port or reset the dslam.....all of the above modes end up failing to OPEN, and I'm just trying shut/unshut of the port to try and restart training. I'm suspecting the splitter might be busted or its somehow not seeing rj11 pins 3,4 properly.,

I'll have some techs on site tomorrow I'm just curious how I can evaluate the link cabling, what can I do on the line to prove that the DSLAM can see it......can I put a hard loopback across pins 3,4????

How would I know if the splitter is buggered?

You probably have older ADSL firmware on the router which may not be very compatible with Telecom's new DSLAMS.

What does

Seems to be missing something at the end on the 1st command

it should have something like

Init FW: embedded
Operation FW: embedded
SW Version: 3.8131
FW Version: 0x1A04

which shows the version of ADSL software thats it is using...
