Hey,

Got a network setup through telecom broadband using a Thomson tg585v8 to handle the LAN but need to connect up a Netgear fvs318n to handle the LAN instead; just using the thomson as the modem is this possible and how do we set this up.

I've connected the Netgear to LAN port 1 of the thomson but im not getting any internet connection from this setup?

Hope that makes sense and you have some answers for me.

Cheers

Hi, I think it is possible to half bridge the Thompson, but to be honest its not worth the time and effort. If it were me get a TPLink TD-8840 put it in half bridge (which will make it simply a modem with no routing ability) and the Netgear will do the rest.

Hi,

Just got a hold of a vigor 120. Set this up nicely and have a good internet connection when connected direct to my laptop but when i plug it into the netgear fvs318n and connect my laptop to that it doesnt seem to want to know. is it best to pppoe bridge the connections here? Step to step on this one would be great?

I have a static IP setup with my ISP(telecom) if that helps?

Cheers
Tom
