Hey all,

I'm looking to get the August Smart Lock, and I know many of you here already have one.

What deadbolt brands/models are you using your August with, and are available for purchase in NZ, and where did you get it from?

Anyone have issues with incompatible deadbolts?

I know August maintain a list of tested locks but it's hard to find, for example, a Schlage B500 series in NZ.

Thanks

Hmm, I picked up a Schlage B60N for mine.  I think they're available from various places around NZ, and although it might not be listed on the websites, my local Bunnings had them for around $100 or so, and I think Mitre 10 Mega did have them though weren't on the shelves when I looked.  As I was ordering other stuff from Amazon, I just popped one in my order, but it was like US$30 or so I think?

personally I would go for the yale zwave deadlock with keypard/key over the august.  thats what Ive been using for years in my home automation setup.

I like having a key if the battery dies, using a pin code instead of pull out a phone etc and its handy if someone doesnt have a phone on them.  they have a code.  you can limit codes to only work at certain times/days etc.

Thanks Yan. I'll take a trip to Bunnings this weekend and see what I can find.

I appreciate the suggestion. I know there are other good z-wave locks (and support Homekit - must have Homekit) out there, including Yale and Schlage, but I'm pretty sold on the August. I do plan to get the keypad too and at that point they mostly become much the same.
