Hi all,  I know this isn't a robotic question but as it related to electronics, I thought this would be an appropriate forum to ask it.

A friends eMac was part of a batch, made five years ago, that used faulty capacitors.  His eMac has popped at least one capacitor that I know of, so I thought I would go through and replace any suspect capacitors that I can see.

So I am now looking for some good quality replacement capacitors.  Can anyone recommend a particular brand or supplier of capacitors?

Many thanks
Grant

This was a problem a few years ago - all manner of mobos etc had this problem.

Not too much an issue now, just about any replacement cap from Jaycar, etc will work, though you can get caps with specific ESR's and temp ratings more suited to PSU and supply filtering for a slightly higher premium. Try RS Components / Farnell / Tradetech etc.

Replaced a LOT of leaky/blown caps over the years and found that most of the capacitors sold by DSE or Jaycar aren't so great due to the temp ratings at prolonged periods of use.

I ended up getting a decent batch of WIMA capacitors from Digikey (a bit like Farnell and RS) and found them to be of excellent quality. I'd rather replace buggered capacitors from a place that sells decent reputable brands such as RS.
