An increasing number of music files in my iTunes are showing an '!' alongside them. These are files I have downloaded from original disks, and now if I try to play them, there is a dialogue box that pops up telling me 'The song 'xyz' could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?' WHY is iTunes doing this to me? Do I have to start reloading all the music off the original disks again? Cry

Go to Preferences > Advanced > iTunes Media folder Location, and click "change" to specify where your music folder is.
Doing that should get iTunes to find all your music again with any luck :)

You've either moved your music files, or deleted them.
Point iTunes at the new location and you'll be sorted.

Thanks for the replys guys. Have discovered that a lot of the file name that are listed in iTunes no longer exist in the music library. Did I delete them??? Not that I'm aware of. Damn annoying.

Cheers

Point your iTunes at the right folder location for your Media, and then choose the Consolidate Library option from the menu.
