Hi all,
I had worked as a wordpress developer for over 3 years at a design agency. I've learned HTML, CSS and JS (but mostly with jQuery). The job was related to managing digital tickets from clients, once they made a request to change some design on their Wordpress site or upload their products I had to visually accomplish their demands and got back to them. I also had to create and customise themes from the scratch if the client wanted us to make a specific Wordpress for them. So I could learn to generate PHP page templates.
So my skill set is mostly front end side and I would like to get my career going with front end development. But, it seems like in nz most software/web companies/agencies are looking for an experienced developer who is proficient with all most of stacks from back end to front end. If it's a front end job they require Angular and React for sure. I taught myself and built personal React side projects but they are not really commercial experience.
I admit that I took the wrong step at the first place, I don't see any bright side with Wordpress developer and now with this experience nobody in the current job market gave me a glance at all. When applying for front end developer jobs in nz this Wordpress developer experience gave me nothing good advantages and maybe even produce a worse impression to hiring people.
I wonder how to get a chance to start a front end developer in nz and get me out of the Wordpress developer. I am ready to take a entry role, which almost impossible to find one in nz though.. Please give me your experienced advice and that would be really a gold to me!
