Hey guys,

I have a friend who is quite good at losing her phones. She's just purchased a iPhone off trademe and I've recommended she look at insuring it.

I've looked at Telecom, Vodafone and 2Degrees but seems for each provider you need to purchase a phone through them to get insurance.

I've also taken a quick look at major insurance companies but can't really find anything to suit.

Does anybody know if there is a company who would be willing to cover this?

She doesn't mind jumping on a plan if need be.

Couldn't it be covered by household insurance. I self insure mine. If they are good at losing them, then that would push premiums up anyway, probably getting close to the excess cost, so there may not be much benefit.

What events do you want her to insure it for ???

Also where does she currently live?, she may have cover from either her folks, or from her own contents insurance.

Thanks for the answers so far team.

Contents insurance isn't an option, she's currently with her parents however for some reason they haven't even included their own phones / iPads (don't ask me why).

I suppose full cover would be ideal, as far as I know she doesn't so much damage her phones but rather flat out loses them...

My contents insurance covers my cellular telephone. It can be with me and if it is lost/stolen/damaged then they will cover it. Pricey excess though, ~$200 last time I checked.

I thought that anyone with contents insurance is covered for all their contents. You dont need to specify each and every object in the house (unless you really want to). You just have to prove that your purchased it e.g. reciept.

EDIT: furthermore the contents insurance is obviously to a certain value that has been requested by the insured person.
