Has anyone updated their hacked iPhone to firmware version 1.1.2 yet??

if so how did it go? which guide did you use and have you noticed any improvements?

I've updated to 1.1.2. Works great! Most noticeable improvement is voicemail notification texts are now received. Free ringtones are back. Seems to run better as well as the upgrade has apparently upped the bus speed. All 3rd party apps seem to be running fine.

Mine was an OTB 1.1.1 and I unlocked with IPSF. I followed this guide (loosely) to upgrade: http://modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15752 (be aware these instructions are for IPSF unlocks only - anySim unlocked phones require anySim1.2.1u to be run on the 4.02.13_G baseband but on 1.1.1 firmware).

Main thing I did differently was to patch the AppSupport file using pntedit - this is much beter than the method they describe! (read my full response to their guide here: http://modmyifone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=99649&postcount=70).

I also helped my mate last night who bought a pre-unlocked 1.1.1 through Parallel Imported last week (get them while you can! ToshBuy no longer have OTB 1.1.1's only 1.1.2's which have the new bootloader and there's no unlock for those yet).

Anyway, we managed to figure out using Minicom that his iPhone was unlocked with anySim. We went through this guide to update his: http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16648 except that at step 9 we used pntedit to patch AppSupport (well, I actually gave him my patched AppSupport file).

For the AppSupport patching, I've seen something called iWorld that does this for you. This is good for people that aren't that technically inclined :) But it provides a generic solution which doesn't do the job as well as doing it maunally with pntedit.

I can send you my patched AppSupport file and Vodafone_NZ.plist file if you're keen to give it a go :P It's definitely not a one-click process this time. Apple are filling the gaps.

[Edit: Just want to make it clear this part below does not relate to what I say above - just in case there is some confusion]
I feel sorry for those buying iPhones from ToshBuy now. Their current description states:
"Note the requirements to either register/deregister with AT&T or use the Turbo SIM method or software unlocks to make this iPhone functional in NZ."
Unfortunately the part about "software unlocks" is untrue, there is NO software unlock yet. You can activate and jailbreak but that just gives you an iPod Touch :)

Well I updated to 1.1.2 on the weekend and it was easy as :-)

Followed a couple of guides which I have consolidated here and I have to say it was really easy - probably one of the easiest updates that I have done.

The only thing that threw me a little was, the AppSupport patching (the phone and sms applications will not work until you have patched them). I used the iWorld application which I installed from installer > Tweaks 1.1.2.

Everything is working great and I love the fact that I now have voicemail text messages back.

Definitely want to get to 1.1.2 because I want the voicemail txts as well as prepay balance ones from vodafone!

At the moment I'm on 1.0.2 but as it came with this firmware I'm not sure how it was unlocked+jailbroken etc. I'm thinking of possibly upgrading to 1.1.1 and then to 1.1.2, is that the right way to go about it?
Is there an easy way? I've read up everywhere but there are no explicit instructions!

Ok so I thought I would share my upgrade to 1.1.2 experience.

I was gonna copy and paste the whole thing here but instead here is a link to it on modmyifone.com incase you can't be bothered reading it all.

A couple of things to note:

BE PATIENT - on 1.1.2 the Apple logo takes about 50seconds before it returns to the home screen.

ALSO - I have had issues with Summerboard on 1.1.2 crashing apps, particulary Safari, back to the home screen. I tried to uninstall it but had no joy so I had to do a restore. The restore went well, took no time at all and I didn't have to unlock again, anySIM unlock stayed in place, which is good news should something go wrong after you have upgraded.

Voicemail Text
Slight Increase in Speed (not that noticable though)
More Keyboard Language support
Different Weather Logo (Nothing major - the temp has changed from 73 to 23)
Devices in iTunes, battery icon shows up to indicate it charges.

Definetily go from 1.02 to 1.1.1 then to 1.1.2

www.modmyifone.com is probably the best source for all things iPhone

To get to 1.1.1 follow this guide (for mac), unfortunately I don't have a guide for windows.

Then follow this guide to go to 1.1.2 (for mac)

If you search www.modmyifone.com you will find windows guides.

Above all BE PATIENT - If you think this is gonna take you 5 minutes you are wrong.

FYI here is a changelog from v1.1.1 to v1.1.2

p.s. seems like it's very important to know my iphone's ip! I can't find a way to work it out at the mo. Any ideas?

Your iPhone needs to be connected to your wireless network, it has to be connected to a wireless network when you do this. If you do not have a wi-fi network at home you will have to either a; get one set up or b;go to a mates house who has one set up and spend some quality time with them

Any way once it is connected to a Wi-Fi connection go to Settings>Wi-Fi> Then select the blue arrow next to the network it is connected to> Your IP Address will be displayed - i.e 10.1.1.x (Standard Dlink Network) or 192.168.2.x (Standard Belkin Network)

You should virginize as you don't know how it was unlocked the first time. It's not worth risking not doing it. The virginizer will bring everything back to the way it was when it was bought new. This was you can start from a fresh canvas.

Did the whole thing a couple of times and tried a couple of work-arounds too. No luck!

Ran into errors towards the end of virginizing when it was mucking with the baseband so bailed on the idea!

Did a double-restore so the baseband was repaired from 1.1.1 and now I'm back at 1.0.2 with everything working again!

Lol might have to wait for a foolproof method huh!

OK!

Am now running 1.1.2!

Here's what happened:

Started with 1.0.2

Failed virginize + downgrade and stoped halfway through baseband reflash ARGH!!

Restored to 1.0.2 again and jailbroke/unlocked

Got bored and wanted vodafone txts

Followed "23-steps to JailBreak iPhone v1.1.2 courtesy iPhone Atlas"

(do a search if you want to use it)

About an hour later I'm all-go on 1.1.2 and have made calls fine. Haven't had anyone txt me yet but vodafone send me a txt yet but seems to be fine + feels more stable than before.

Syncs with iTunes+OSX Address book

Waiting on txts to see if caller-id works or needs some sort of patch!

Yay!

(what's the bet my next post will be that something messed-up)

Anyone know how to make 1.1.2 caller-id work?

Seems fine with all txts as well as vodafone txts but when I get a call it sees it as "021 XXXXXX" and doesn't associate that with the stored "+6421 XXXXXX"

Any ideas?

The caller ID works for me. AFTER upgrading I installed iWorld from installer.app which seemed fine, but just to make sure I also edited my AppSuport file. Instructions can be found here

Just doesn't seem to show up contacts instead of numbers when they ring.
Isn't there an easy way of just copy/replacing a file on the iphone instead of editing? I hate cyberduck (bad vibes lol)!

Just upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 at the weekend...

Must admit, I had a bit of a nightmare, and it took me alllll day, but I got there in the end and very please I upgraded!

Well worth the hassle I think....!

Followed a few tutorials online as couldn't get onto the one's linked in this thread, but all pretty much follow the same routine :-)

I assume you are on a mac (Cyberduck) if so get iFuntastic. It is a great program for editing and uploading files onto the iphone. If you don't want to get it you can just use Cyberduck. Anyway upload the file to System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/

AND REMEMBER: Backup your existing file first
