My partner and I have the same iTunes account and have so for many years and each have separate iTunes libraries that are backed up on one desktop. We have used the same login for everything, which causes lots of issues such as Facetime won't work right, find my iPhone won't work, Siri thinks we are the same person and each receive the same iMessages as well as I can see my partners recent missed calls all of which we have lived with for years.

We also share our contacts and calendar which we love and would like to continue sharing.

My question is how can we separate our iTunes account into two separate accounts, maintain sharing contacts and calendars and keep our separate purchased music that we already have in our separate iTunes libraries?

or alternatively if you know of a Wellington based Apple/iTunes/iPhone/iPad genuine expert?

You are using one Apple account for two users which is why you Apple thinks you are one person.

You need to separate yourselves by having two two Apple accounts. Then you can use various options to achieve what you want.

2 iCloud users sharing same contacts and calendar is about someone with the same issue and how they resolve it.

We have 5 devices on one account and it works just fine. All of the issues you have can be rectified by setting up your imessage/facetime settings properly on each phone. We have no issues at all with duplication. Each person has a separate email account and we use that as the identifier for each person. You simply un-check the other persons details under settings. Music is sorted using playlists and each person just syncs their own. I looked into splitting these up when family sharing came out and hit a brick wall.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Set up a new Apple ID, and (as long as they are in the same country/zone) they can share all content without the overlap of iMessage and such.

Each account works entirely separately (for purchasing new content) but has access to the other user(s) apps and iTunes purchases.
