Just thought as a comparitive measure it would be interesting to see how everyone else's battery surrvives.

I am starting to think something may be wrong with mine, I recently got a Blackberry for work (dilemma, I know!) so have been using my iphone far less (wish it wasnt the case but restricted by email server!!) and still getting fairly poor result from my battery despite limited use.

I have to charge each night and often do not even have 1 hour usage..

Will be taking note tonight as to my official Usage and Standby time from the Usage option in settings - this is by far the most accurate method of comparison.

Also to note, this includes WiFi off, BT off, autodim on etc etc...

What sort of time frame and usage do you get??

Wow, very interesting to read your usage - that seems about standard as to what I can tell from other iphone users internationally from other threads that have touched on batery usage.

See its 10.50ish now, I took my phone off the charger at 7am or so this morning and would normally charge my phone for the evening.. But, I think I will attempt to leave it off the charger tonight to see if it can last through! It appears to be about 1/4 full at the moment..

My usage:

Usage: 36 minutes
Standby: 15 hours 49 minutes
Usage has been nothing important, not a single phone call, maybe 2 or 3 texts, WiFi for about 5 minutes and general checking the time or contact details type "non usage" and it is has used 3/4 of the battery somehow? (Wifi off other than the 5 mins, no BT, Dim on etc)

I will leave it on standby over night and see if I wake up to a dead phone.

Does this seem low to you? What are your thoughts?

I hate to say it but it really sounds like you got a faulty battery.

re- http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1030550

Or it maybe it could be fixed by formatting your iphone and loading 1.1.4 back onto it?

Otherwise the Omnitech guys may be able to swap the battery if your not the type to get too technical.

Areyou using BossPrefs?  Check to see if your EDGE is On if you are, or of you're not, install it so you can turn EDGE off an on as required.  Also check to see if your email is set to auto-check at regular intervals - this can sap the battery from what I hear.

Thanks for your comments.

Well as expected, I woke up this morning to a dead iphone - no juice at all and had the large battery icon with the red and lightening.

As for EDGE, I have boss prefs installed and have EDGE always off unless needed. As for email, I have the settings to Manual check and have email turned off with boss prefs also until I need it.

Also as mentioned in previous posts I have taken the advice of other posts around using the dim and BT off etc.

SO basically the phone didnt even last 24 hours with only 35 inutes usage?!

I purchased from Parallel Imports with a 2 year warranty, however it was in October and I havent really bothered about the battery until now - what are your thoughts around warranty and battery life??

Do you think I have any chance of getting a swap?

Sounds battery related but i think you should try and restore this first to see if there are some funky software settings in your current build that are screwing with the power management. if you're still having issues after restoring then try for the swap.

Oh so you bought from an NZ Retailer?
Heck give em hell until they swap the iphone out! because I doubt they would have a clue replacing the battery.

Purchased from Parallel Importers in NZ in October.

I will try a fresh restore to 1.1.4, but not too sure if I really need to - it has been the same sort of usage since day one.

Thats definitely not normal!

I charge mine probably once every three days. Although I do place it on and off the charger once in a while. Although with wifi and BT off it really should last longer than a a day. Mines a 4gigga and I've had it for YONKS with all kinds of scratches and dents in it so can't see why yours would stuff out. No warranty though!

Sadly that's my iphone with little usage..

Most people get a few days with medium usage.

UPDATE on this: I took my phone back to Parallel Imports and explained the situation, they happily have taken it away for serviciing as its under warranty.

So, fingers crossed I should be getting it back at no extra charge, if not a new one, all under warranty as its been that way since day one.

I just hope I do not get it back and they try wack on some charge for it.

Either way, I will keep you all up to date.
