This has probably been asked many times before.

My original laptop died and has been replaced with a new laptop.

I have installed the latest version of iTunes on the new laptop. I then transferred my music library in from a backup.

My next step was going to be transferring some new songs to my iPhone 4, but was unable to .

I then got the "Erase and Sync message" - does this erase all info e.g. contacts, photos, as well as music, videos and apps from my iPhone?

Is there an easy way to transfer without losing all my apps and information?

 Thanks

The issue is that your iPhone is set to recognise the library on your old laptop, so by plugging it in to your new one it will want to wipe your library (music, apps) and re-sync them.

If everything that was on your old laptop is on your new one you can go ahead and re-sync.

Everything else (contacts, photos, etc) will remain intact.

You may find this useful now, or in the future

Copying iTunes folder to another drive, the copying back to restore.

You can:

Copy your apps/books/podcasts/ringtones/audiobooks/etc over to the new computer from backup then add them to the iTunes library then re sync.

Or plug phone in and right click (windows) on device in iTunes and select transfer purchases, which will grab the apps etc off phone and pop it into your computer,

Or if your apps are still current in AppStore you can redownload them for nothing if you sign in with same apple ID that you purchased them with then resync
