Hi guys,

Looking for wired only or wireless + wired - MUST be gigabit ethernet. Our Netcomm seems to be going a bit screwy.

Prefer Netgear or Linksys - could consider DLink or other reputable brands. 4 ports OK but more preferred - only if possible.

Hit me up if you're looking to get rid of anything like that.

Hey, have you listed a price, location and how much shipping would be to other parts of New Zealand? Are you after a switch or a router? Your post seems to indicate you want a router, however you say switch.

I am open to both - it's for my home network but I need something with decent management capability in terms of managing traffic - so either a WIFI/Ethernet router or a network switch will be what I am after at this point.

Hope that semi clarifies matters.

I have an 8 port Netgear Prosafe GS108Tv2 that is for sale. Its full gigabit ethernet on all ports and is managed via a webgui. Its a switch not a router, but ideal.

Its up for $60 if your interested and delivery outside of Auckland if you can't pick up would be between $8-10 couriered.

Awesome! Could very well be interested. I would be looking to buy around Fridayish or the following Monday.. does that suit ok?

In the meantime I'll have a quick look at the firmware options etc. How well used is it?

Hi Marcel, if you want Traffic management you're really after a router (unless you are talking a layer 3 switch, which is not really some thing you would use at home). I believe from what you have said you are after a router with or without wireless. A switch is a different beast altogether.

Edit: I'm assuming this is for home?

Yeah although to be fair this will be managing 10 plus (network is growing this summer) wired connections via CAT6.

The idea is to have the device in the central point managing network trafffic (QOS etc) with a couple of extra Access Points where needed in the house.

Just remember QOS improves the quality of your service, not a fix all for bandwidth hoarding.

No amount of QOS can fully control someone just opening all the holes and going full force on it without serious limitations.
