This one may be a little out of the ordinary, but I figure it's worth a shot.
I'm a recent arrival in NZ from the UK and I'm taking a double leap of emigrating and trying to move to working for myself and setting up my own software business. What I'm looking for is a place to live with one or more people who share that goal or who are doing their own projects and so understand the need for work-space and a decent Internet connection etc. I'm not specifically looking for collaboration, but I'd hope that mutual help would happen naturally. Also, if you've got a project already going that you think a someone with strong dev and team management experience could fit into and want to tell me about, I'm all ears.
I'm single, male, not a kid (late 30s) and I don't want to live in a hovel or a student party house, but I've got no problem sharing with younger people if they have no problem with sharing with an old fogey. I'm just after a chilled out, fun, respectful, reasonably tidy and clean (but stopping well short of OCD washing up drama!) living arrangement. I'm currently living near Wellington but I'm perfectly happy to look up to the Kapiti coast or across to the Wairarapa if that suits. Moves elsewhere in NZ are totally possible, but would obviously need some more thought and time.
Please PM me if you're interested or reply in thread if you have any suggestions for where else I could ask this.
I'm in the Auckland CBD (though would consider wellington for a short period, like a year), in my mid 20's. While not so interested in the collaboration aspect (though that is likely to naturally occur) I'm keen with the idea of living with another who thinks on the same wave length (i.e. another geek/start-up). That kind of constant active thinking you get means you're discussing this even when you're relaxing on during your downtime and really turbo drives things I've found.
Anyway, I'm sweet for living arrangments for now however but very likely before the end of the year I'll be moving so keep in touch? Cheers.
